While she may or may not be returning to star in the new I know What You Did Last Summer sequel, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar will still be a part of the film in an “unofficial” capacity.
In a new interview with People this week, Gellar said: “I am dead,” cementing that her character from the 1997 horror film is not coming back anytime soon.
Gellar does have a small role/part of some kind, which she is calling an “unofficial job” title:
“My best friend [Jennifer Kaytin Robinson] is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I am continuity,” Gellar told the publication. “So I’m always the one telling her, ‘Well, that would happen, or that wouldn’t happen with those characters,’ so I do have kind of an unofficial job title.”
It would have been nice to see Sarah Michelle Gellar reprise her character in the next I know What You Did Last Summer film, but I guess a small cameo or a behind the scenes gig is better than nothing at all.
James Prinze Jr. has already signed on to return, and it’s also very likely the signings of both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy will follow shortly.
Dark Nation will have more updates on the new I know What You Did Last Summer sequel as soon as they become public knowledge.
