Were the bosses actually playable in the SNES port of Street Fighter 2?

I spent countless hours trying to crack a working Action Replay code to play the final four unplayable bosses in Capcom’s iconic port of Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo console back in the early 1990s.

Sadly, Datel’s Action Replay cartridge was unable to achieve the desired effect to control one of the four main bosses in the game. The Game Genie device on the other would allow you to play them in some capacity at least, although it was quite a buggy cheat code.

GAME GENIE:

Note: A Game Genie device is required to be able to use the 4 final bosses:

Using a Game Genie, enter 10A40767+F0AE6D04 in a two player game and the second player will be able to play as one of the four bosses. Make sure you select a boss stage to play as your desired fighter of that country.

Were you among one of the gamers trying to find a work around to play the unplayable bosses in Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo? Did you buy the Game Genie device at the time to try out the working code? If so, you can tell your story about it down in our community section below.
