Troma‘s monstrous hero Toxie returns in his first ever video game. That’s right, folks. The 1991 animated series Toxic Crusaders is being turned into a video game. Retroware made the official announcement this week and teased a first look at the game in action in a gameplay trailer featuring Toxic with his trusty mop by his side.
The game looks to be similar to classic arcade games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Simpsons, but with its own spin. The gameplay trailer footage teases each individual selectable character in a action and move sets, as well as an action-packed four player option mode.
Retroware shared the following details about the new Toxic Crusaders video game:
“The Toxic Crusaders (hottest heroes of 1991) have returned for a radical, radioactive romp for a new era, featuring awesome action, crushing combos, and more toxic waste than you’ll know what to do with! Developer and publisher Retroware has teamed up with Troma Entertainment to bring the Toxic Crusaders back, for an all-new, all-action beat ’em up for one to four players! Grab your mop, tutu, and attitude, and get ready to clean up the mean streets of Tromaville, one radioactive goon at a time!“
