28 Years Later release date was officially announced by Sony this past Friday. Danny Boyle’s long-awaited third installment in the franchise will be invading theaters in the summer of 2025.
Mark your calendars now for June 20th.
A brief summery of the films plot was revealed a few weeks back that reads:
“The fictional film is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows a young boy’s journey of survival and discovery.”
The film will begin filming shortly in Redmire Falls. Boyle will be directing the first chapter of the new trilogy.
Jack O’Connell, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes star.
There could be more possible casting announcements to come in the next couple of weeks.
And as noted in a previous update, original star Cillian Murphy also returns to the franchise as an executive producer. No word yet whether or not he will star in the film as well.
Nia DaCosta (Candyman) will take over the directors chair to helm the second chapter in the new trilogy.
