SEGA themselves have not confirmed or denied that a sequel to Sonic Frontiers is currently in the works as of writing up this article. Meanwhile, a known leaker who goes by the name of Midori has shared a new X post reporting that Sonic Frontiers 2 is in the development stages.
Midori has a very good track record for leaking reliable information on upcoming video games.

The title is a sequel to Frontiers in gameplay style.
But the name might change. Frontiers was Rangers until it was announced.

As he states in his recent X post, Midori believes that the game might be retitled to something other than Frontiers. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Sounds promising, doesn’t it? We can’t say no to more Sonic games.
