If I had to choose the best game in Sega’s iconic Shinobi series and rank it on behalf of Dark Nation, I would have to put Revenge of Shinobi on the Mega Drive / Genesis at the top of that list.
For those of you who are new to the world of the Shinobi games, starting out with Revenge of Shinobi is a great way to introduce yourself to this brilliant video game series.
The plot of the game goes like this:
“Taking place three years after the first game, the criminal organization Zeed from the original game has since reformed and have renamed themselves “Neo Zeed”. They decide to have their revenge on the Oboro Ninja clan and Joe Musashi by killing his master and kidnapping Joe’s bride, Naoko.”
You now have our recommendation for the best game in Sega’s Shinobi universe to begin your introduction in the series with. It’s one of those games that is easy to the hang of fairly quickly and start playing through without many issues.
With eight large districts, buckets of incoming enemies, and a fantastic soundtrack by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro throughout, Revenge of Shinobi is a must-play title that you can not pass by if you love action packed platform games.
Have you played any other games in the Shinobi video game series? If so, what is your favourite game? You can let us know by posting your opinions down in the Dark Nation comments area.
We hope this article helped you discover something new in the world of retro video games.
