Deadline is reporting this week that Warner Bros. is developing a new Gremlins film, with Christopher Columbus Possibly attached to the project.
According to the report by the folk over at Deadline, Warner Bros has:
“Franchise hopes abound down the road in Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, Practical Magic 2, DC’s Clayface and Supergirl, Drew Goddard’s incoming script for a new Matrix, a new Gremlins from Christopher Columbus and a Goonies treatment.”
The Deadline report doesn’t mention whether or not it will be another sequel or a remake of the first film. However, a Gremlins 3 has been rumoured for years.
It’s early days yet, so details are very limited as of writing this article.
Fans have been waiting decades for a new Gremlins film with original stars Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates. Could this be it? Only time will tell.
The original Gremlins has the following story:
“When his absent-minded father gives young Billy Pelzer (Zach Galligan) a new pet, he warns him to abide by three rules. The rules get broken, of course, and the pet–a cute Mogwai named Gizmo–unwittingly gives birth to the vicious Gremlins who proceed to terrorise the town.”
Dark Nation will keep you all updated on the development of the new Gremlins film.
