Barbarian director Zach Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil movie has been given an official release date slot this week from Sony Pictures.
That’s right, Deadline reports that the new Resident Evil movie will be storming its way into theaters everywhere on September 18th, 2026.
Cregger shared the following brief comments about his vision for Resident Evil:
“I’ve been a rabid fan of these games for decades, and to be able to bring this amazing title to life is a true honor.”
Producer Robert Kulzer of Constantin, which is producing and co-financing the movie, also shared a short statement on the adaptation, teasing a unique vision:
“The world of Resident Evil experienced through Zach’s vision is an irresistible feat.”
Not much is known about the film at this point, but it’s promising to harkening back to the scary roots of Capcom’s earlier video games in the series.
