Some clever individual is porting the original Tomb Raider game to the Nintendo 64. The fan-made port can be seen running in the embedded video within this post.
No idea why the N64 version of the original game was scrapped, but this fan-made port is looking like it will do it justice 30 years after being cancelled by the developers.
I personally find it very fascinating to see all these older classic video games lately being ported over to older retro consoles.
YouTube channel “snake0451” shared the following details about his work-in-progress port of the game:
“Port of Tomb Raider to Nintendo 64 using Tiny3d and Libdragon. Based on the TRX decompilation.
It’s running on my Analgue 3d with unleashed overclock setting. The entire game is pretty much implemented though there are still numerous bugs, rendering and performance issues. Performance especially tanks in levels with large areas.
Almost the entire game is currently fit on the cartridge including all of the music and most of the FMVs.”
We are assuming the intention is to release this port unofficially to the public at some point.
Take a look at the video footage below, and let us know what you think of it down in the comments.
