King of Fighters, one of SNK’s greatest fighting games of all-time in the arcade and on the Neo Geo console, is getting a Sega Genesis / Mega Drive port by coder Gabriel Pyron.
Apart from the arcade machine and the Neo Geo AES home console, this new port will mark its first time on 16-bit hardware according to our knowledge.
Pyron shared the following post on his X account this past Wednesday, along with a first look image of his work in progress on the game:
In my free time, I can’t do anything other than work on the #MegaDrive, now I’m learning from my friends how to use #Hamopig, look what came out…

From viewing at the screenshot for a few moments, you can clearly tell this is looking like a really good port of King of Fighters to Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. Gabriel Pyron’s time and effort is starting to pay off for sure.
There’s no denying that the image attached above looks very impressive. Only time will tell how it turns out overall.
What do you think of the screenshot? Do you think the project looks like a decent port thus far? As usual, you can let us know what you think about it down in our community section below.
Dark Nation will keep you posted on the progress of this version of game on our website.
